Have you heard about the beauty product everyone is talking about?
This celeb approved product involves Geishas and ancient Japanese beauty secrets.
It’s Tatcha and everyone from Kim Kardashian to Drew Barrymore are addicted.
It’s so highly rated, it might start a little face off between Japan and Korea which up until now has been the dominant country when it comes to innovative beauty products – think snail slime and salmon eggs.
Now back to the beautiful beginnings of Tatcha.
It was founded by Victoria Tsai who was looking for a more natural approach to beauty. That search led her to Kyoto where she met a modern day Geisha and that was the encounter that changed everything.
The Tatcha collection is about honouring ancient Japanese beauty practices and incorporating them into our modern day lives.
The secret behind the much loved product is the combination of three skin loving ingredients – green tea, rice and alga – also known as Hadasei-3.
“Every ingredient is carefully selected and minimally manipulated to be gentle and safe with maximum effectiveness,” according to the Tatcha website.
Here’s what some of those celebs I mentioned think about it.
Kim Kardashian is a big fan of the dewy skin mist. It’s a spray on moisturiser giving you that hydration boost and as the name suggests, dewy and luminous skin. You can spray it on top of makeup without ruining all your hard work!
Kim actually sprays it on her sponge or makeup brush to add a bit of extra glow.
“I love how fresh it is and how my face feels after I put makeup on,” Kim said in a recent Insta video.
“This is fantastic at adding a dewy look to your skin while making sure your makeup looks flawless all day long.”
Drew Barrymore uses the Deep Hydrating Lifting Mask.
“I look like Hannibal Lecter in front of my husband, but after I watch one 30 minute episode of The Colbert Report with that mask on, I look and feel better,” she told brides.com.
These are just two products in the range. Here are some more best sellers.
The water cream is oil free and anti-ageing, hydrating and pore refining offering up a more youthful appearance. It also contains 23 carat gold.
The Tatcha essence is about softening your skin and making the rest of your skincare routine work better. It improves cell turnover, skin texture, plumps and hydrates. It’s kind of like a wonder product.
Sunscreen is what I consider one of the most important steps in a skincare routine (that and removing makeup). This product is SPF 35, lightweight, protects against UVA and UVB rays, tightens pores and acts as a primer. What a multitasker!
You can also get your hands on Tatcha lip balm and lipsticks, masks, eye serum, cleansing oil and night cream.
So I’ll now leave you to absorb all that info and to decide if you’re team Korea or Japan.
